TRANSPORTATION

(ADAMS COUNTY COUNCIL FOR SENIORS)

Door-to-door senior transportation service is now a coordinated service between the Adams County Council and the Quincy Transit Lines.  The transportation service is provided Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for seniors age 60 and older.  There are 4 vehicles available as well as 4 para-transit buses for those who are handicapped, using wheelchairs, and walkers.  To utilize this service, it is requested that seniors fill out an application form and in turn will receive a bus card.  The applications can be acquired in Room 106 at the Quincy Senior & Family Resource Center, 639 York Street or by calling 217-228-0557.

Anyone wanting to ride the door-to-door transporation should call 217-224-3535 to schedule a ride at least 24 hours in advance.  The service provides transportation not only to medical appointments but also hair appointments, shopping trips, social functions.  Wherever you need to go is where they will take you.  There is a requested donation within the city limits of Quincy of $2.50 each way.  Out in the county the requested donation is $6.00 each way.  There is no need to pay the driver on each trip as a donation request will be mailed to you at the end of each month.

The Quincy Transit Lines para-transit buses are available to anyone with disabilities, no matter what age.  Those riding the para-transit buses must fill out an application to be approved by the Quincy Transit Lines.  You can acquire these applications by calling 217-228-4550.

Every Monday the para-transit bus does a grocery run with no charge to the riders.  These are made possible by donations from Nieman Foods.  To take advantage of this benefit you must call 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride.  The scheduled routes for the grocery runs are listed below:
